Capes and Shawls: My Picks

Hi. It's jacket season. Everyone's wearing one. But wanna know an awesome alternative to the jacket? Capes. And shawls.

Capes and shawls provide you with all the warmth a jacket can afford, only they're so much more chic. And trendy. 

Another perk that comes with wearing a cape or a shawl? You can still wear your oversized, chunky, huge sweaters and not have to change when you need to leave the house. Because unlike a jacket, which when placed on top of a chunky knit, makes one resemble a balloon, a cape fits very nicely on top of any comfy knit. Because capes and shawls are loose and usually don't have buttons or zippers to close up.

Gone are the days of stuffing yourself into a jacket. Gone are the days of changing your top just to fit into your jacket. Gone are the bundling up fiascos. Because now you just have to slip a cape right over any top you happen to be wearing. Done. And Done. 

Now you can have your cake (oversized sweaters) and eat it too (and not have to change when you need to put on a jacket to head outdoors). And I believe this is the example that the creator of this expression had in mind when he first used it.
