Frozen Yogurt Popsicles with Assorted Fillings
Oh hi guys, summer begins tomorrow (!!!!!), and I've got a popsicle recipe for you. The second one ever that I'm sharing on the blog. (These cookie dough popsicles are the first ones I posted. Like almost a whole year ago.)
Now, this is an exciting recipe. Because it's a recipe for frozen yogurt popsicles with assorted fillings. And who doesn't love some froyo? With all their favorite fillings? Especially when you can make it at home in under five minutes and don't need to trek anywhere to purchase it.
See? Exciting.
Wanna know how adaptable and easy and quick these frozen yogurt pops are to make? K, I'll tell you:
- Get a bowl out. Like a medium-sized one.
- Get your favorite plain yogurt out (full-fat, low-fat, Greek - any kind).
- Get your favorite crunchy or crispy or soft or mushy or nutty or sweet add-ins out (think cookies, cereal, granola, fruit, nuts, chocolate chips, cacao nibs, coconut etcetera).
- Get some maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt out.
- Mix everything together. Fill your popsicle molds. Freeze the popsicles. Wait a few hours. Eat the popsicles.
See? Adaptable and easy and quick.
Now, you've got options with these froyo pops.
Like, you can make a wholesome breakfast version by creating a granola + berry popsicle. Or you can make a filling snack version by mixing in some nuts and cacao nibs. Or you can make a sweet dessert version by adding in some Oreo cookies and chocolate chips.
Also, you can add as little or as much maple syrup as you'd like. You can even use honey instead of maple syrup. I just personally found that the maple syrup tasted a bit better in the pops once they were frozen. But you might prefer honey.
I also like my frozen yogurt popsicles on the less sweet side. Like, with very little to no sweetener. Just keep in mind that the popsicles will taste less sweet once they're frozen, so if you taste the "batter" before it's frozen and you think it's just the right amount of sweet, maybe add a splash more maple syrup.
These frozen yogurt popsicles are a great on-the-go breakfast. Because you can make them whenever and freeze them for weeks. So, say you mix together the ingredients and freeze the pops on Sunday, you'll be able to grab a popsicle every morning that week before you run out the door. Convenient, eh? And way more exciting than non-frozen Greek yogurt from the fridge for breakfast.
These popsicles are also the perfect summer snack or dessert. Enjoy one midday out in the sun. Or indoors after dinner. Really, eat these whenever, wherever.
Cold. Smooth. Creamy. Wholesome. Custom-sweetness. Flavorful. Fruit or nut or chocolate or granola or cereal or coconut or cookie-full. Quick and easy. Best summer treat everrrrrrrrrrrr.
Frozen Yogurt Popsicles with Assorted Fillings
Yield: 6-7 popsicles
1 ½ cups plain yogurt of choice (Greek, low-fat, full-fat etc.)
3-5 tablespoons maple syrup (depending on preference, I like mine with little to no sweetener)
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon cinnamon, optional
Dash of salt
Add-ins of choice: granola, crushed Oreo cookies, chocolate chips, sliced fruit or berries, cereal, nuts etc.
1. In a medium mixing bowl, stir together the yogurt, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt. Mix in one, or a combination, of desired add-ins. Alternatively, divide yogurt mixture into a few bowls and stir a different filling into each bowl. You can also position add-ins like strawberry slices or whole Oreo cookies against the sides of the molds, instead of mixing them directly into the yogurt.
2. Fill ices molds 3/4 full and place sticks in. Freeze for a few hours, or until hardened. Popsicles are best if you wait 5 minutes for them to defrost slightly before consuming. If necessary, run the popsicles under warm water to help ease them out of their molds.
