How To Winterize Your Summer Clothing
Okay. I’m excited about this one.
This fashion post isn’t my usual collage of shopping picks featuring a certain garment. Or compilation of options for a new trend. This one is a style guide. Essentially. On how to winterize your summer clothing i.e. on how to take a summer dress or skirt that you may have relegated solely to summer wear and transform it into a garment that can be worn throughout winter as well, if just given the proper styling.
I’ll explain below. You know I will. I’ll do my rambling thing. Bear with me.
Above is a basic camisole dress. It’s strapless and mini and makes an appearance as the temperature outside rises. BUT. Pair one with a chunky cardigan over top, some boots, some chain-heavy accessories, and winter headwear and you’ve got yourself a cozy winter outfit.
Next up. A midi slip skirt. It’s lightweight and silky and pale blue and summery. But. Styled with a cashmere sweater, lace-up booties, and neutral toned accessories, it’s a winter outfit, ready to go. But with a wool coat on top, obvs.
Perhaps the most unique of our outfits here — featuring a white poplin babydoll dress. Which would definitely be viewed as a summer garment, by most measures. However. Layer a black turtleneck underneath, slip on some over-the-knee black boots, don some thick sunglasses, throw on a wool beret, and sling a black bag over your shoulder, and you’ve just transformed a girly summer dress into a chic winter ensemble.
And last up. We have a minty pleated short skirt. You’d probably pair this with a tank or tee and sneakers in the summer. But. You can easily winterize this preppy skirt with a delicate sweater, some knee boots, sheer tights, and matching accessories, creating a cheery winter pastel look.
