I adore matchy-matchy outfits.
And I know that it seems like I say that I love every style when I'm posting about it. Like when I say, for example, that I'm obsessed with winter white outfits when I make a post on winter whites.
But I mean it every time. And this is possible because I mainly post styles that I personally have a liking for. I know, so selfish. But it's the truth.
So, back to matchy-matchy outfits. Here's what the dictionary has to say about the word "matchy-matchy":
"very or excessively colour-coordinated: the key to looking stylish is to avoid an outfit that's too matchy-matchy."
Ha. No. For once, Dictionary, you are wrong. The key to looking stylish sometimes is actually to seek out an outfit that's very matchy-matchy. So long as you do it right.
There's a science to getting a coordinated outfit right. And the five outfits here should give you some sense of what it takes to put together a great matchy-matchy ensemble.
Matchy-matchy outfits can come in the form of garments in identical fabrics. Like, for example, a velvet top paired with velvet trousers, or a denim shirt paired with jeans. Or you can achieve a coordinated outfit by styling very similar colors together, like in the outfit right below. Or by pairing similar patterns together, like checks on checks, and florals on florals.
Well. Browse through these outfits. And get inspired. To don a matchy-matchy ensemble. Thanks.
