New Beauty Products I'm Loving

New Beauty Products I'm Loving | TrufflesandTrends.com

It's been a while since I've done one of these. And by "one of these," I mean a personal makeup or beauty products post.

And the reason it's been so long is that I've been so happy with my makeup and various other beauty products that I haven't felt the need to switch things up and purchase new products.

So, after many, many months, the products below are the only new ones I've accumulated that I love and am therefore excited to share with you. You'll find hair products, makeup, and skincare items in the collection below.

I've never actually done a skincare post before because for the past couple years, I've been constantly experimenting with skincare. I kept trying out new cleansers and moisturizers and creams and have just recently settled on the few that really seem to be working for me. You'll find them below.

So, here they are. The new beauty products I'm loving (in no particular oder):

1. Amika Dry Shampoo

amika Dry Shampoo

I've tried out about five or six dry shampoos before settling on this amika Perk up Dry Shampoo. I use this product when my hair starts looking flat, limp, or oily and needs a little help.

Not only does this dry shampoo make my hair look more voluminous and refreshed instantly, it also smells so damn good. I also have this dry shampoo in the mini size, which is prefect for traveling.

2. Wet Brush Pro - High Heat

Wet Brush Pro Blowout Brush

You may already have heard a lot about the Wet Brush. Personally, I've found the regular brush to be nothing special. But I LOVE the blowout/high heat brush. I have no idea how to use a round brush, so I use the Wet Brush Pro Blowout Brush whenever I blow dry my hair. It handles the high heat, helps make my hair look smoother, and glides smoothly through my hair, so I don't end up with half the hair from my head in the brush when I'm finished using it.

3. hair Claw

Some other cool hair claws: Anthropologie Victorian Claw Set, Free People Fine Hair Claw

This one is random, I know, but I started loving to use hair claws to pin my hair up. They're quick and easy, and I love how 90's they look.

4. Kevyn Aucoin Eyelash Curler

Kevyn Aucoin Eyelash Curler

Before purchasing this curler, I had been using the Tweezerman eyelash curler. It has great reviews and is apparently very popular, but I didn't like it. The curler didn't catch on to all my lashes, and the curl didn't manage to hold for long enough.

This Kevyn Aucoin curler, however, is wide enough to catch all my lashes and holds the curl for much longer. So I'd definitely recommend it over the Tweezerman curler.

5. Drugstore Concealers

Revlon ColorStay Concealer

I've got some new awesome concealers for you.

I'm constantly on the hunt for affordable concealers that cover under eye bags and blemishes effectively, all without looking caky or patchy. Lately, I've also been searching for concealers that are oil-free and kind to the skin. These two concealers fit the bill.

These drugstore concealers are medium to full coverage, long-lasting, look natural and not patchy, and are both under eight bucks! I have dry skin, and many concealers tend to cling to my dry patches. But these two don't. They're also oil free and are suitable for even breakout prone skin.

6. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

As I mentioned in the intro, for the past couple years I've been experimenting a lot with different skin care products. I only started getting into skin care when I noticed that I began getting breakouts, which is something I didn't struggle with in my teenage years. I also have dry skin, so it's a tricky combination.

I've tried out countless cleansers, moisturizers, oils, serums, exfoliants, creams, masks and what not in an effort to improve my skin, both from Sephora and the drugstore. Nothing seemed to be helping though. So, a few months ago, I decided to cut out everything I had been using and start fresh, with the most basic of products.

I now use a simple cleanser, a day and night moisturizer, one eye cream, and aloe vera when my skin is feeling particularly dry. Oh, and suncreen, obvs. 50 SPF every day, baby. Even in the winter.

All my current skincare products, aside from the eye cream and sunscreen, are items that can be found at the drugstore. Everything is listed below. And if you're wondering if my skin has improved with the new regimen, yes, yes it most certainly has.

This Cetaphil cleanser has a short list of basic ingredients, and is suitable for all skin types, even sensitive skin. I use it every morning before I apply anything to my skin, and every night, after removing my makeup with a Simple Micellar Makeup Wipe. This cleanser leaves my skin feeling clean, soft, and refreshed.

7. Neutrogena Oil Free Moisture

Neutrogena Oil Free Moisture

This is the moisturizer I use every morning, after using the Cetaphil cleanser and before applying sunscreen. It's basic, oil-free, suitable for sensitive skin, and provides ample hydration for my dry skin.

8. Cerave PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion

After cleansing my skin every night, I apply this moisturizer. It's non-greasy and lightweight, but somehow still super hydrating and plumping. It's best for normal to dry skin, and is also suitable for sensitive skin.

9. Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment

Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado

After moisturizing at night, I apply a thin layer of this eye cream to my under eye area. It's rich and creamy and hydrating and softening. And it has avocado in it, which obviously makes everything better.

10. SkinCeuticals Physical Fusion UV defense Sunscreen

I liberally apply this sunscreen to my face and neck every morning, after moisturizing.

You know how sunscreens leave a white film on your face? This one doesn't, because it's tinted. I can't say that it provides much coverage, but I have stopped using any foundation or tinted moisturizers since I started using this tinted sunscreen. Since I'm focusing on my skincare more now, I try not to wear any foundation. So unless I have an event, I only use this sunscreen and then concealer where needed. This sunscreen is lightweight, has a high SPF, and is suitable for sensitive skin, so it won't break you out.

11. Aloe Vera Gel

Amara Organics Aloe Vera Gel

Up until recently, I never thought of using aloe vera for my face. Growing up, aloe vera was always relegated solely towards soothing sunburns.

But after doing some research, I discovered that aloe vera actually has many other skincare benefits aside from just burn relief. And so, a couple times a week, I mix this aloe vera into my nighttime moisturizer and apply it all over my face and neck.

Just make sure you get an aloe vera that doesn't have that added coloring and alcohol and other junk in it. This particular one is organic, cold-pressed, and all-natural, so it's a good choice.
